JEWELLERY DESIGN PROCESS: FROM INITIAL IDEA TO LAUNCH

It's been particularly creative at NIKITA this year and we have so many new jewellery designs to share with you in the coming weeks!
In the meantime, we thought we'd share a sneak peak into our jewellery design process - right from the first sketch to the finished product...

We design all of our jewellery from scratch here at our studio in Kent, and so much love and energy goes into each piece.

It starts off with an excitable brainstorming session between our small team and we then start sketching a variety of ideas -considering shape, size, density, texture and how it should be worn.

But above all, we want our pieces to have MEANING behind them to inspire and empower whoever wears it.

After we nail down the exact concept we create the final sketch and create a thoroughly detailed specification document including every single attribute of the design. We include the dimensions, weight, base materials, plating, fixtures, indentations, length, texture, feel and so much more. When this is all confirmed and given the green light by the founder, the concept is then sent to our trusted manufacturers of over 7 years, so they can begin to create the first sample.

After clarifying any questions with our manufacturing team, we receive the first 3D virtual CAD mock up of our piece and we feedback our initial thoughts and requests for improvements.

COLLECT VISUALS

After a few weeks, we are sent the first sample of our design. This is the part we get most excited about as it can be so surreal when your little idea becomes a physical thing you can now hold in your hand.

We then feedback anymore tweaks to our team in the hope that we can get it absolutely perfect. We then negotiate and place our order. Our initial launches are always in smaller quantities, to prevent surplus and to test out the initial response from our customers. We believe in quality over quantity - always!

We then wait patiently for our new pieces to arrive and jump straight into the all the fun, creative tasks for launch such as; product photography, creating copy for listings, naming the product, content creation for socials and email marketing campaigns!

It really is a pleasure and a dream come true to be able to have the experience passion and network to create such beautiful, meaningful concepts and designs from scratch and share them with our audience.
